This Privacy Policy outlines Silsoe Parish Council (“we”, “our” or “the Company”) practices with respect to information collected from users who access our website at silsoeparishcouncil.org (“Site”) or otherwise share personal information with us (collectively: “Users”).

The information is provided by the Parish Council and while we endeavour to keep the information up to date and correct, we make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability or availability with respect to the website or the information, products, services, or related graphics contained on the website for any purpose. Any reliance you place on such information is therefore strictly at your own risk.
We take your privacy seriously. In accordance with the law, we only collect a limited amount of information about you that is necessary for correspondence, information and service provision. We do not use profiling, we do not sell or pass your data to third parties. We do not use your data for purposes other than those specified. We make sure your data is stored securely. When you contact Silsoe Parish Council, the personal information that you provide (name, address, contact number, email etc) will be processed and stored so that we are able to contact you and respond to your correspondence, advise, provide information, send invoices and receipts relating to service provision.

Silsoe Parish Council cares to ensure the security of personal data. We will only keep your data for the purpose it was collected for and only for as long as is necessary, after which it will be deleted or shredded.

What information do we collect?

We collect two types of data and information from Users.

The first type of information is un-identified and non-identifiable information pertaining to a User(s), which may be made available or gathered via your use of the Site (“Non-personal Information”). We are not aware of the identity of a User from which the Non-personal Information was collected. Non-personal Information which is being collected may include your aggregated usage information and technical information transmitted by your device, including certain software and hardware information (e.g. the type of browser and operating system your device uses, language preference, access time, etc.) in order to enhance the functionality of our Site. We may also collect information about your activity on the Site (e.g. pages viewed, online browsing, clicks, actions, etc.).

Device Information: We collect Personal Information from your device. Such information includes geolocation data, IP address, unique identifiers (e.g. MAC address and UUID) and other information which relates to your activity through the Site.

Personal information – namely an email address when a User contacts us via the Email Us or Councillor contact buttons – this will go straight to a member of Silsoe Parish Council and the personal information that you provide (name, address, contact number, email etc) will be processed and stored so that we are able to contact you and respond to your correspondence, advise, provide information, send invoices and receipts relating to service provision.

How do we receive information about you?

We receive your Personal Information from various sources:
When you voluntarily provide us with your personal details via our Site;
When you use or access our Site in connection with your use of our services;
From third-party providers, services and public registers (for example, traffic analytics vendors).

What information do we collect?

We do not rent, sell or share Users’ information with third parties, except as described in this Privacy Policy.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

We have contact forms on our website to enable you to contact us easily with queries, comments etc.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.
