UPDATE FROM SILSOE PARISH COUNCIL REGARDING CLOPHILL ROUNDABOUT
You may be aware that the A507 is to be fully closed from the 18th to the 28th August as shown below in red.
This will inevitably bring a major increase in traffic through the village at this time which will be further impacted by a big event at Wrest Park.
We have been, and still are, in constant contact with CBC and the contractors about how the impacts on the village can be mitigated.
Currently, they are considering the following;
- Installation of 2 temporary traffic crossing in locations still being discussed
- Regular speed detection van visits on Ampthill Road
- Improved and increased signage for rat runs advising no entry except for residents
We have further requested a 20mph village wide speed limit but this is yet to be confirmed.
CBC and the contractor are considering other mitigation strategies but have yet to advise us of these.
We will be hoping to monitor traffic volumes starting next week to be able to demonstrate to CBC the effects of the closure and to speed up mitigation decisions.
Your Parish Council are working very hard to keep residents safe and as unaffected as possible during this period.
